The Cyber Threat Alliance Marks First Anniversary with New Members and Continued Momentum in Global Threat Data Sharing

NTT Security and Radware Join CTA to Improve Global Cybersecurity Defenses

CTA’s Exponential Growth from Six to 17 Members and Triple Digit Growth in Daily Threat Intelligence Sharing Underscores Commitment to Elevating Security Posture Across Ecosystem

WASHINGTON, April 16, 2018 — As the Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA), a nonprofit organization working to improve the cybersecurity of the global digital ecosystem, celebrates its one year anniversary, it today announced that NTT Security and Radware have joined as new members. These industry-leading cybersecurity organizations help businesses, data centers, and networks protect themselves against a multitude of sophisticated threats. By joining CTA, they will work with other leading security companies to share actionable threat intelligence at speed and scale to collaboratively disrupt malicious cyber activity globally.
“The power of CTA lies in its members – in just one year we have grown from six to 17 cybersecurity organizations coming together to share threat data on a single platform. Despite being competitors, this collaboration enables members to better protect their customers, allows network defenders to better disrupt malicious cyber activity, and elevates overall cybersecurity across our digital ecosystem,” said Michael Daniel, president and CEO of CTA. “CTA also enables members to strategically respond through sharing threat information with another, at speed and scale. We welcome NTT Security and Radware, and we’re confident that their insights will help us continue to grow the depth and breadth of our data sharing capabilities.”
“To address today’s ever-changing threat landscape, we at NTT Security understand that there is strength in numbers and value in collaboration. Threat Intelligence comes from within your network as well as outside, from surface, deep and dark web resources. Leveraging the power of the CTA along with the global reach of NTT Security’s Managed Security Services and Global Threat Intelligence helps to reinforce and strengthen the identification, detection and mitigation of threats while gaining a deeper knowledge of today’s cyber security trends,” said Kazunori Yozawa, CTO at NTT Security.
“As cyber-threats continue to evolve in sophistication, leaders in the cybersecurity industry need to come together to share intelligence and data from the front lines,” said Anna Convery-Pelletier, Chief Marketing Officer at Radware. “We are excited to lend our leadership and research on today’s most pervasive attacks to improve global security posture and speed threat response.”
A High Quantity and Quality of Data Sharing
Since its founding in 2017, CTA has tripled its daily threat intelligence sharing among members. This data has also grown richer and more valuable over time as members include more context and linked intelligence. CTA members now share an average of more than 65,000 packages of threat intelligence per day. By participating in intelligence sharing, these companies can improve their own products and services to not only better protect their customers but to better understand the ever-changing threat landscape.
At last year’s RSA Conference, CTA announced its first employee with Michael Daniel as president and CEO. Michael previously served as Special Assistant to President Obama and Cybersecurity Coordinator on the National Security Council Staff. Since then, CTA has hired six additional staff with diverse experience across industry, cybersecurity, national security and homeland security. CTA continues to bring on top talent who work with its members to help make the global digital ecosystem more secure through real-time, high-quality cyber threat information sharing.
About the Cyber Threat Alliance
The Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA), founded by Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., Cisco, Fortinet, McAfee, Palo Alto Networks and Symantec, is an independent, not-for-profit organization that also includes IntSights, Juniper Networks, NTT Security, Radware, Rapid7, ReversingLabs, RSA Security, Saint Security, SK Infosec, Sophos, and Telefónica’s ElevenPaths. CTA is the industry’s first formally organized group of cybersecurity practitioners that work together in good faith to share threat information and improve global defenses against advanced cyber adversaries. CTA’s mission is to facilitate the sharing of actionable intelligence and situational awareness about sophisticated cyber threats to improve its members’ cyber defenses, more effectively disrupt malicious cyber actors around the world and raise the level of cybersecurity throughout the Internet and cyberspace. The alliance is continuing to grow on a global basis, enriching both the quantity and quality of the information that is being shared across the platform. CTA is actively recruiting additional regional players to enhance information sharing to enable a more secure future for all.
