Petrie, Levy, and Thomas retake their seats on the board following the third annual election for seats on the Board of Directors that are reserved for affiliate member representatives. These positions are elected by CTA member peers.
These directors will join Gil Shwed, CEO, Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, Matt Watchinski, Vice President TALOS, Cisco Systems, Inc., Ken Xie, Founder, Chairman of the Board, and CEO, Fortinet, Inc., Raj Samani, Chief Scientist, McAfee, LLC., and Amit Singh, President, Palo Alto Networks.
Speaking of the board’s 2020 composition, CTA President and CEO, Michael Daniel, notes that: “CTA’s board provides critical oversight and support to ensure that CTA is able to achieve its mission. The depth and breadth of talent the Directors bring to any discussion is impressive. They represent a great cross-section of the cybersecurity industry.”
On the renewal of his appointment to the CTA Board, John Petrie says, “I intend to continue to push the rapid identification and dissemination of actionable intelligence to our members and to encourage more of my peers to join and participate in the CTA. We are stronger working together and using our combined strength in enhancing our capability to continuously improve our rapid dissemination of accurate data points. It is my privilege to continue the Board’s work and I look forward to another exciting year.”
John is a well-respected and trusted senior technology executive in the cybersecurity industry. Prior to his current role as Counsellor to the CISO of NTT Ltd., John served as CEO of NTT Americas from 2018 to 2019 and as NTT Global CISO from the time of his arrival at NTT in 2016 through to 2018.
“As we continue our membership with CTA, my hope is that we can achieve and learn more about our larger cybersecurity ecosystem through information sharing,” says Corey Thomas, President and CEO of Rapid7. “At Rapid7, we strongly believe that as an industry, we have to work together to make security simpler for customers. Every organization, no matter how sophisticated, only sees a small percentage of what’s happening in today’s threat landscape. By collaborating and sharing information through our work with CTA, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”
In addition to being President and CEO of Rapid7, Thomas is also a member of the Rapid7 board of directors and the board of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, serving on its audit and health care quality and affordability committees. Thomas has more than 15 years of experience in leading companies to the next stage of growth and innovation. Rapid7 has been a member of CTA since 2017.
“CTA continues to prove that alliances can work. It has been very encouraging to see a growing number of cybersecurity vendors and operators cooperate to share information in efficient ways to altruistic ends,” says Joe Levy, Chief Technology Officer of Sophos. “In the coming year, I hope to see us continue to grow our ranks of contributing members and improve the systems and platforms we use for intelligence sharing. Sophos is proud to be a member of the CTA.”
Levy brings more than 25 years of IT security industry leadership to CTA. As CTO at Sophos, Levy leads the company’s technology strategy worldwide, driving product vision and innovation to both advance and simplify cybersecurity.
