With more than 300 security researchers worldwide, Talos is the largest commercial threat intelligence group in the world. As leader of Talos, Matt is responsible for ongoing intelligence activities necessary to keep Cisco’s security products and services up-to-date and consistently detecting the last cyber security threats that could impact Cisco customers.
Prior to joining Cisco, Matt ran the intelligence group inside of Sourcefire (Vulnerability Research Team or “VRT”). The team he led was responsible for building threat intelligence, detection content, and threat detection engines for all of Sourcefire’s product lines. Matt combined his leadership ability with his passion for protecting customers and joined groups and resources within Cisco to ensure cohesive security detection content and consolidated efforts. These efforts he led created what is now the Cisco Talos Threat Intelligence Group.
Matt serves on the Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA) executive committee overseeing the day-to-day operations of CTA with Talos being an active participant in the organization. The Cyber Threat Alliance is an industry organization focused on sharing threat intelligence across its members to help better protect all of our mutual customers and the internet at large.
Matt earned his B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Central Missouri State University and recently was featured on CyberScoop and on CNBC as an IoT security expert.
